(Meliphagidae; Ϯ White-streaked Friarbird M. gilolensis) Gr. μελι meli, μελιτος melitos honey; γραις grais, γραιδος graidos old woman (i.e. old honey-seller); "Melitograis n. g. (striata nob. fusca rhachidibus in capite corporeque, præsertim anteriore, albis. Ala 102 mm. — Similis videtur Anthoch. seni. Gray Z. Pr. 1860, 349, sed pennæ alarum non apice albæ). Rostrum capite multo longius, crassiusculum, culmine frontem versus paullum elevato, postremo depresso, angulum frontalem rotundatum, latiorem formante. Rhachides pilei totius rigidi, albi. Orbita et tempora nuda. Cauda minus elongata, leviter rotundata et subemarginata. Nares longæ, valvula supera magna. Media fere inter Anthochæras et Philedones. — "Ex nova Guinea".
