Sittasomus stictolaemus Pelzeln 1868. ... From the Greek certhia (treecreeper) and soma (body), referring to the morphological similarities between this small woodcreeper and the treecreepers Certhiidae. The construction of the name parallels that of the closely related Sittasomus, the genus in which C. stictolaemus was originally described. The name is masculine in gender."
