Bill short, much compressed, the culmen gradually curved, notched. Nostrils large, membranaceous; aperture linear, lateral. Wings short, much rounded. Tail moderate, deeply forked. Type.—Parus furcatus, TEMM. Pl. Col. India." (Swainson 1832); "Leiothrix Swainson, 1832, in Swainson and Richardson, Fauna Bor.-Amer., 2 (1831), pp. 233, 490.
