DEFINITIONS
PSEUDOSEISURA
(Furnariidae; Ϯ White-throated Cacholote P. gutturalis) Gr. ψευδος pseudos false; σεισουρα seisoura bird mentioned by Hesychius and subsequently identified as a wagtail Motacilla. Heinrich Reichenbach was a proponent of the quaternary or natural system which grouped all birds in interlocking symmetrical circular patterns, and here linked the cacholote with the yellow wagtails; “XCI. Pseudoseisura RCHB. Nat. Syst. d. Vögel t. suppl. ... (Reichenbach 1853); "Pseudoseisura Reichenbach, Handb. spec. Orn., cont. x, 1853, Scansoriae A. Sittinae, p. 146, 172. Type, by monotypy, Anabates gutturalis d'Orbigny and Lafresnaye." (Peters 1951, VII, 122).
