THERISTICUS
(Threskiornithidae; Ϯ Black-faced Ibis T. melanopis) Gr. θεριστικος theristikos  of reaping  < θεριστρον theristron  sickle; "Genus. Theristicus Wagl.,  Curucou.   Rostrum gracilius. Pedes breves, robusti; tarsus validus digiti intermedii longitudine, incluso huius ungue, antice scutellis hexagonis tectus, postice reticulatus; digiti validi, breviusculi, teretiusculi, ungues mediocres, validi,arcuati, ille digiti anterioris intermedii acie interna subinflata (integra); acrodactyla elevato-scutellata.  ...  Species: 1. caerulescens
Unattested L. caerulescens, caerulescentis  bluish (neither caerulescere nor caerulescens have been found in Classical Latin, but their existence may be inferred from caeruleus  azure-blue, by the example, amongst others, of rufus  red, ruddy, giving rufescere  to become reddish, and rufescens  reddish).
