Alc. rudis Gm. America: 2. Alc. amazona Gm. 3. — americana Gm. 4. — alcyon Gm. 5. — bicolor Gm. ... 2 Aristophan. Aves." (Boie 1828); "Ceryle Boie, Isis von Oken, 21, 1828, col. 316. Type, by subsequent designation, C. rudis (Gm.) = Alcedo rudis Linné. (G. R. Gray, List Gen. Bds., 1840, p. 11)." (Peters, 1945, V, p. 165).
