(Tyrannidae; Ϯ Bran-coloured Flycatcher M. fasciatus) Gr. μυια muia, μυιας muias fly; φοβος phobos terror, fear, panic < φεβομαι phebomai to flee; Reichenbach's 1850, plate LXVII, labelled Muscicapinae: Muscipetinae & Platyrhynchinae, clearly shows the wide, heavily-bristled bill typical of a flycatcher, and the coronal streak of this group; "Myiophobus Reichenbach, 1850, Avium Syst. Nat., pl. 67. Type, by subsequent designation (G. R. Gray, 1855, Cat. Genera Subgenera Birds, p. 49), Muscicapa ferruginea Swainson = Muscicapa fasciata Müller."
