(Trochilidae; Ϯ Green-backed Firecrown S. sephaniodes) Gr. στεφανη stephanē  coronet, diadem; -οιδης -oidēs  resembling (cf. specific name Orthorhynchus sephaniodes Lesson & Garnot, 1827); "L'oiseau-mouche à couronne violette  ...  Cette espèce plus robuste dans ses formes que la plupart des autres oiseaux-mouches, a une calotte d'un pourpre doré passant au violet, qui forme sur l'occiput une sorte de huppe" (Lesson & Garnot 1830); "SEPHANOIDES, Less.  S.
