DEFINITIONS
CRYPTOSYLVICOLA
(Bernieridae; † Cryptic Warbler C. randrianasoloi) Gr. κρυπτος kruptos hidden; L. silva forest; -cola inhabitant < colere to dwell; "Cryptosylvicola, gen. nov. TYPE SPECIES Cryptosylvicola randrianasoloi Goodman, Langrand and Whitney. ... The generic name is formed from the Greek adjective kryptos, meaning hidden or secret; the Latin noun silva, meaning forest and the Latin noun cola for inhabitant. We have chosen this name to emphasize the fact that this relatively widespread forest-dwelling bird has remained unknown to science for so long” (Goodman et al. 1996); "Cryptosylvicola Goodman, Langrand and Whitney, 1996, Ibis, 138 (2), p. 153+. Type, by original designation and monotypy, Cryptosylvicola randrianasoloi Goodman, Langrand and Whitney, 1996." (JAJ 2021).
