Genus Caereba auct., honeycreeper; L. color, coloris colour; "DACNIS CÆREBICOLOR ...This new species offers a striking resemblance to the last [Dacnis cayana] in the distribution of its colours, but the thalassine-blue is replaced by a dark indigo, the same as in the species of the genus Cæreba [= Cyanerpes], whence I have named it cærebicolor" (P. Sclater 1851) (subsp. Dacnis cayana).
