(maculatus, Bodd. nivosus, Sw.)" (Bonaparte 1856); "Pardirallus Bonaparte, Compt. Rend. Acad. Sci. Paris, 43, 1856, p. 599. Type, by monotypy, Rallus variegatus Gmelin = Rallus maculatus Boddaert."
