aracari
Tupí name Arassari little bright (as day) bird, for the Black-necked Araçari; "45. RAMPHASTOS. ... Aracari. 4. R. rostro nigro: maxilla superiore lateribus alba, basi triloba. Toucan. Edw. av. 64. t. 64. Aracari. Marcgr. bras. 217. Raj. av. 44. Habitat in America meridionali. Aracari
(Ramphastidae; syn. Pteroglossus † Ivory-billed Araçari P. azara) Based on “Aracari Azara” of Levaillant 1807; "Genre. ARACARI, aracari, Less.; pteroglossus, Illig. ... Replacement name for Pteroglossus Illiger, 1811, considered improper and more applicable to the Ramphastos toucans." (JAJ 2020).
