(Accipitridae; Ϯ Short-toed Eagle C. gallicus) Gr. κιρκος kirkos type of hawk, here associated with the harrier; αετος aetos eagle; like its congeners, commonly called snake eagles, the Short-toed Eagle has a flattened owl- or harrier-like face; "11.
